Traditional Thai bodywork is part of the traditional medical system of Thailand, a holistic system that considers each person as whole in the context of their environment. In this system, the mental, energetic and structural aspects of a person are viewed as inseparable.
The techniques found in Traditional Thai Bodywork range from rehabilitative deep-tissue therapies to gentle, nurturing work that calms the mind and body. Most often, sessions at Mala Room will incorporate spot-specific herbal therapies, such as hot compresses and various balms and liniments, and may also include techniques such as Thai fire cupping, Thai scraping and Tok Sen.
Thai bodywork has the potential to address/support:
- Stress/anxiety reduction
- Acute injury recovery
- Increased flexibility and range of motion
- Nerve pain/discomfort
- Chronic pain/issues, such as TMJ discomfort and plantar fasciitis
- Pregnancy and postpartum women
- Body maintenance for active people
