Sickness
Please inform your massage therapist as soon as possible if you find yourself unwell shortly before your massage. Massage therapy is not an appropriate treatment for contagious infections and we are happy to reschedule your appointment for when you are feeling better. If your cancellation falls within the 36-hour time period before your appointment the fee may be waived.
What to Wear
Traditional Thai bodywork is done with the client fully dressed. For your session please wear loose fitting, or stretchy, comfortable clothing without metal hardware of any kind (like zippers, rivets, bra clasps and underwire etc.). Please no shorts or synthetic slippery fabrics like nylon. Short sleeved, wide neck tee-shirts or tank tops are ideal. The use of herbal compresses, balms and liniments is extremely common in Thai Bodywork and may stain clothing as they may be used over and under fabrics. You are welcome to bring massage clothes with you to your appointment and change at Mala Room. Some techniques may require the removal of clothing and in that case appropriate draping techniques will be used.
Pranakriya Group Yoga Class Policies
Health Disclosure and Liability Release
All yoga students at Mala Room are required to fill out a personal information and health history disclosure and liability release form before participating in group yoga classes. Please also discuss health concerns with the yoga teacher to find the level of class that will work best for you. Yoga is not intended to diagnose or treat medical conditions and new students or students returning to yoga should check with their doctor to make sure that yoga is an appropriate activity for them. It is each yoga student’s responsibility to prevent injury by resting, modifying and asking for help when unsure of how to participate.
Class Structure, Size and Payment Options
Most yoga classes at Mala Room are taught in sessions, or series of classes that typically last between 4 and 10 weeks. Sessions are run when a minimum of 5 students sign up for the entire session and class sizes are capped at 10 students. To sign up for a session and reserve your spot, you must register and pay in full before the first class. Class session fees are non-refundable and do not carry over to future classes or other services. When space allows drop-ins are possible to many classes, please check with the instructor to find out if there is room for you to drop into a particular class. Cash, local checks and credit card payments are accepted for both drop-in and session fees.
Studio Etiquette
Yoga is great exercise, but it is also a special time to tune in, recharge and to create community. With that in mind, please arrive on time or up to 15 minutes early to set up your practice space quietly, to allow others the peaceful environment they may need to feel comfortable and ready to practice. Please remember to turn off your cell phones. You are welcome to use all yoga props provided at Mala Room. Please wipe down Mala Room mats and hang to dry after class, as well as neatly put away whatever else you may have used. Please bring water in bottles with tight fitting lids to avoid spills. Wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in and wear layers as you will warm-up and cool-down during practice. Please do not come to group yoga classes if you are sick.
